Newly released data from the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) confirms a major shift in the global skyline game: the UAE has officially surpassed the United States in the number of completed super tall skyscrapers — buildings that are 300 metres or taller.

According to the latest report, the UAE now counts 37 of these towers, while the US has 31. Most of the UAE’s super tall structures are located in Dubai, which has long been pushing the limits of vertical construction.

The UAE ranks third globally across all skyscraper categories. It has:

  • 345 buildings over 150 m
  • 159 buildings above 200 m

At the top of the global chart is China, which continues to dominate in every height category with 122 buildings over 300 metres, and almost 5,000 over 150 metres. Skyscrapers in cities like Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Guangzhou have placed China firmly ahead.

As for Dubai, it has many impressive towers that contribute to its skyline.

Here are just some of them:

  • Burj Khalifa – 828 m
  • Marina 101 – 425 m (4th tallest residential building in the world)
  • Princess Tower – 414 m (once the tallest residential building in the world)
  • 23 Marina – 392.8 m
  • Elite Residence – 381 m
  • Kempinski The Boulevard – 370 m
