The UAE continues to simplify and expand its visa system, making it easier for skilled professionals, entrepreneurs, tourists, and families to visit the country. The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP) has recently announced the introduction of four new purposes for visit visas. At the same time, the rules and conditions for several existing visas have been updated to simplify processes and provide clearer requirements for applicants.
Here’s what you need to know.
Four New Visit Visa Categories in UAE
AI Specialist Visa
Designed for foreign experts in artificial intelligence, this visa can be issued for single or multiple entries for a specified period. Applicants must provide a letter from a sponsor or host in the technology sector.

Entertainment Visa
Granted to foreigners coming temporarily for entertainment activities, such as performances or shows.
Event Visa
Allows entry for short-term attendance at festivals, exhibitions, conferences, seminars, or cultural, sports, religious, educational, or community events. A host or sponsor from a public or private entity must submit a letter detailing the event and its duration.

Cruise and Pleasure Boat Tourism Visa
A multiple-entry visa for tourists traveling via licensed cruise ships or pleasure boats. Applicants must submit a tourist itinerary, and the guarantor or host must be a licensed establishment for such activities.
Updates to Existing Visas in UAE
In addition to new categories, the ICP has revised several existing visa types to make them more flexible and precise:
Truck Driver Visa
Conditions have been updated for foreign truck drivers, allowing single or multiple trips. Sponsorship by a shipping facility or transport business, health insurance, and financial guarantees are required.

Visiting Friends or Relatives
New income requirements for guarantors have been introduced. First-degree relatives require a monthly income of at least AED 4,000, second- or third-degree relatives AED 8,000, and friends AED 15,000.

Business Exploration Visa
Applicants must now demonstrate financial solvency relevant to the business they plan to explore or show professional experience in the activity abroad.
Humanitarian Visas
Duration has been standardized to one year. The authority can extend, renew, or terminate residency based on reports from the General Directorate of Identity and Foreign Affairs. Special exemptions may apply for sponsorship, kinship, or financial requirements in humanitarian cases.

Residence for Foreign Widows or Divorcees
New rules allow widows or divorcees to obtain residence without a sponsor. Residency can be granted within six months of the spouse’s death or divorce, with conditions applied for those who are custodians of children. Custody disputes are handled by the competent committee, and financial solvency and adequate housing remain requirements.
For those considering a longer stay in the UAE, 10-year Blue Visa offers a pathway to extended residency. Check the eligibility requirements and start your application today to secure your long-term residence in the country.
