Thomas Anders

German singer and composer Thomas Anders is famous for being the lead singer of Modern Talking and has made a name for himself as a talented Europop artist, having had several successful singles and performances across the globe.

Born in Koblenz, Anders showed an interest in music from a young age, studying at the Johannes Gutenberg University and performing on Radio Luxembourg. By age 17 he released his debut single, but his real breakthrough came in 1983 when Anders joined forces with Dieter Bohlen, creating Modern Talking which gained worldwide success with their track ‘You’re My Heart, You’re My Soul’.

Following further success with Modern Talking, through European hits such as ‘You Can Win If You Want’, ‘Cheri, Cheri Lady’, ‘Brother Louie’ and ‘Atlantis is Calling’, Anders and Bohlen split to pursue individual activities. Anders toured the world, releasing his debut solo album ‘Different’ in 1989.

Anders continued to release albums, earning a fan base that focused around his solo achievements rather than that of Modern Talking. One album, Barcos de Cristal, was sung entirely in Spanish and was released for the Latin American market.

Bohlen and Anders reunited in 1998 and worked together for 5 more years releasing 6 albums as Modern Talking, hitting the top of the charts with Back for Good, Alone and Victory, the first of which was a huge success, being certified Gold and Platinum in several countries.

Anders released the album This Time in 2005, reaching number 14 in the German albums chart, and has released numerous singles and albums following Modern Talking’s final split in 2003.
