British stand-up comedian John Bishop has firmly established his place as one of the top comedic talents in the UK. Known for his Liverpudlian accent and acute observations, The quick witted comic has performed across the UK on many of the country’s top comedy events and has also hosted his own show since 2015.
Bishop worked for a number of years for a pharmaceutical company before finally pursuing a professional career in stand-up comedy in 2006. His amateur career began much earlier, reaching the final of ‘So You Think You’re Funny’ also winning the Daily Telegraph Open Mic Awards and BBC New Comedy Awards in 2000. The awards tally increased as Bish’ gained recognition in the North West before appearing on Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow in 2009.
Since his first television appearance, Bishop has been a guest on many of the UK’s top comedy show including Celebrity Mastermind, 8 out of 10 Cats and Live at the Apollo. Praised for his personality and quick wit, Bishop has also been a guest on Mock the Week, A League of Their Own, Have I Got News for You and Would I Lie To You?
He has performed at many of the UK’s top venues and events including the Apollo Theatre and the London Palladium, where he hosted the 2013 Royal Variety Performance for special guest Charles, the Prince of Wales.
Bishop is also the host of The John Bishop Show on BBC One, where he welcomes numerous guests, and more recently, John Bishop: In Conversation With… where he talks to celebrity guests about a range of issues and topics.
The comic has also been praised for his charity work, performing at fundraising events and also at the Sport Relief telethon, where he managed to raise over £4.2 million.
