Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal is one of tennis’ top sportsmen, having won 14 Grand Slam titles, spent numerous weeks as the world’s No. 1 and earned over $80 million in prize money. Known for his high-level of athleticism and strong left-hand shots, Nadal is widely regarded as the sports best clay surface player, a title that he has proven by winning 9 French Open titles.
Having become a professional in 2001, Nadal found himself regularly competing with Roger Federer in the beginning of his career, but success in the French Open saw him become the world No. 1 in 2008 after he won the Wimbledon Championship for the first time. Since then he won each Grand Slam at least once and picked up two Olympic Gold Medals, first in the Singles tournament in Beijing and in the Doubles in Rio de Janeiro in 2016.
Praised for his aggressive playing style, Nadal became a fan favourite through his high-work rate and speed in getting around the court. This game-style has seen Nadal win over 80% of his Singles matches, making him one of the top players to have ever played. He currently sits as the third highest Grand Slam winning behind Federer and Sampras, 7th on the list of time as world No. 1 with 141 weeks and the title leader of the French Open.
Off the court, Nadal has been the face of many different brands including being a global ambassador for Kia Motors since 2006. Nadal has endorsed Nike, Emporio Armani and Lanvin over the years.
