Born in 1988 in Mumbai-India, Salmali Kholgade, is a notable Indian films playback singer. Her entry into Bollywood was in 2012 for the Hindi movie “Ishaqzaade”, with the song ‘Pareshaan’ that was not only critically acclaimed, but also brought Kholgade a series of awards. Almost immediately after, Kholgade became a household name with several movie songs coming her way with every other hit film including her name prominently. She has also been part of several non-Hindi language soundtracks adding to her already impressive repertoire.
Prior to entering the movie showbizness, Kholgade received her music training from her mother who is theatre actor and classical singer, Uma Kholgade. In addition to this, and having begun performing in her late teens, she was part of Pakistani singer Ali Zafar’s backup singers. She has also been known for her contributions towards one of the albums of “The Bartender” where she has showcased her more jazzy, sensual sounds. If this were not enough for variety, Kholgade has also toured Russia and Armenia with a group from Latvia performing solos.
