English darts player Phil Taylor, also known by his nickname ‘The Power’, is widely regarded as the greatest darts player ever, having won over 200 professional tournaments, including a record 16 World Championships. Turning professional in 1986, Taylor dominated the sport for the majority of the 1990s and 2000s and has earnt a large fan base around the world due to his talent, skill and entertaining personality.

Having enjoyed playing darts as a teenager, Taylor took up the sport in 1986 on a local level, before travelling to North America to compete in the Canadian Open in 1988, where he won his first title. He continued to participate and win several titles before winning his first major title, the World Championship, in 1995.

Since then, Taylor became the leading name in darts, winning consecutive World Championship titles from 1995-2002 and again 2004-2006, 2009-2010 and most recently in 2013. Along with the world titles, Taylor has won 15 World Matchplays and 11 World Grand Prixs.

Taylor’s career has taken him all over the world, winning titles in Australia, Europe, North America, Asia and more. He has also become renowned for his famous sporting rivalries against many of the top competitors in darts including Raymond van Barneveld, James Wade and Michael van Gerwen.

Taylor holds numerous records in darts including the highest three-dart average of all time, career earnings of over £7 million and the highest number of televised nine-darters.
