Canadian comedian Russell Peters is one of the world’s true superstar comedians. Having performed all over the world for millions of fans, Peters has been praised by critics and fans for his quick wit and observations, many of which examine cultures and his own upbringing.
Having begun performing stand-up in Toronto in the late 1980s, Peters performance on the 2004 comedy show ‘Comedy Now!’ which went viral, is the break that shot him to stardom. Since then Peters has headlined sell-out shows at the Air Canada Centre, becoming the first comedian to sell-out the venue in 2007. He also broke records in the UK when he sold over 16,000 tickets to his show at the O2 Arena, as well as becoming Australia’s biggest comedy show in 2010.
His first comedy album, Outsourced, was released in 2006 and sold over 100,000 copies. He has gone on to release four more albums, including the 2011 recording of Peters’ show at the O2 Arena titled ‘The Green Card Tour’. His most recent specials were created and released on streaming site Netflix.
Peters has also been named one of the highest-paid comedians in the world, making over $15 million between June 2009 and June 2010 and $21 million in 2013.
