Peter Coyle

Peter Coyle is a Liverpool born independent artist who saw success when he formed The Lotus Eaters with Jem Kelly in 1982. The band's first single, "The First Picture of You," sold more than 100,000 copies in England. Since then, in a career spanning over 30 years, Coyle has released eight solo albums and collaborated with several artists, including John Murphy, Susanna Hoffs, China Crisis, Martin Stephenson, The Lightning Seeds, and blues singer Connie Lush, among numerous others.

Coyle’s music is characterized by diversity in genre and style, influenced by musical legends such as Peter Gabriel, Ian Curtis, John Lennon and Björk.

In 1987, Coyle won the US Billboard Album of the Year for his critically acclaimed double album A Slap in the Face for Public Taste. His following album, ‘I’d Sacrifice Eight Orgasms With Shirley MacClaine Just To Be There’ was also fairly successful.

In the late '90s, Coyle reunited with Kelly to produce Silentspace, a follow-up to Lotus Eaters’ No Sense of Sin

Today, Coyle continues to make music, releasing digital singles of his songs every month.
