When Quincy Jones – the legendary American record producer who’s been nominated for an incredible 79 Grammys – calls you ‘so creative I can’t believe it, a 360 degree beautiful young cat,’ the world sits up and takes notice.
So it was that Olli Howell, a contemporary jazz artist from London came to Quincy Jones’ attention. A jazz artist with a ‘delicious dynamic flow and an almost elegiac beauty’, his upcoming second album, 'Self Identity', is set for release on Ropeadope Records in 2017. A multi-faceted and hugely talented artist, he’s written music for films, TV, commercials and worked behind the scenes writing music for established pop stars.
He’s now become the first resident act at Quincy Jones’ new Q Bar in Dubai at the Palazzo Versace Hotel, with Quincy hand-picking each artist that performs in the living room like space. The last 2 years have been incredibly busy for the hugely talented multi instrumentalist, with dozens of high profile gigs including shows at the London Jazz Festival, the London O2 Academy and the Edinburgh Jazz Bar.
