Biography & Career:
Benjamin Clementine is a British composer, musician, poet and actor whose full name is Benjamin Sainte-Clémentine. Born in Crystal Palace, London, to Ghanaian parents and raised in Edmonton, North London, the early years were shaped by struggle rather than privilege. At 11 the piano became a refuge, but by 16 he had left school, fallen into conflict with his family and found himself homeless in Camden. The path led unexpectedly to Paris, where several years were spent busking in the streets and the Metro, playing covers of Nina Simone, James Brown and Bob Marley, and slowly finding an original voice.

It was in those Parisian streets that everything changed. Discovered by a talent agent while busking underground, the connection to the French music scene grew quickly, earning the description of the English revelation of the Francofolies festival. A debut EP, Cornerstone, followed in 2013, and an appearance on BBC's Later With Jools Holland drew immediate critical attention — Paul McCartney was among those who urged the career forward. The debut album At Least for Now arrived in 2015 and won the Mercury Prize, firmly establishing one of the most singular voices in British music. The New York Times named Benjamin Clementine one of the 28 geniuses who defined culture in 2016. In February 2019 the French government named him a Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters — a rare honour for a British artist.

The songs span avant-garde, experimental pop and contemporary classical, defying easy categorisation. Second album I Tell a Fly arrived in 2017, followed by And I Have Been in 2022, and the fourth and final album Sir Introvert and the Featherweights in 2025 — accompanied by a tour across the United States, UK and Europe. Beyond music, the acting career has gathered serious momentum. Appearances in Denis Villeneuve's Oscar-winning movies Dune and in Steve McQueen's Blitz have marked a genuine transition into film. The concert experience remains one of the most intense and immersive in contemporary music — intimate, poetic and unlike anything else on a stage.

On the personal side, Benjamin Clementine was married to British singer-songwriter Flo Morrissey, though the couple separated in 2024. There is no confirmed net worth figure from official sources. Demand for Benjamin Clementine tickets continues to reflect a fiercely devoted global audience.
