Sandwich is an alternative rock band from the Philippines.
They started their career in the late 90s, and rose to the limelight during the famous era of alternative rock music in the country. The five-piece band consists of lead vocalist Raimund Marasigan, guitarists Diego Castillo and Mong Alcaraz, bassist Myrene Academia and drummer Mike Dizon.
Among the many OPM bands, Sandwich’s music can be described as “heavier” when it comes to alternative rock, which has set them apart, gaining a different fan base. Through the years, their work has been used in different television advertisements, TV show official soundtrack, even Political Campaign jingles.
They have released several studio albums till date, of which are widely known singles like “DVDX”, the award-winning “Sugod” and “Betamax”, with Sugod and DVDX used on the hit online game O2 Jam.
The band has won more than 15 recognitions, some of which are Best New Artist (1999), Album of the Year (1999 and 2001), Rock Video of the Year for the song “Sugod” (2006), Song of the Year for the hit “Betamax” (2008), Favorite Artist (2011).
