Biography & Career

Curtis James Jackson III, professionally known as 50 Cent, is a versatile American figure celebrated for his music career. Hailing from the South Jamaica neighborhood in Queens, New York, his musical journey began in 1996, encountering early adversity when a shooting incident in 2000 led to the cancellation of his debut album, "Power of the Dollar," and his departure from Columbia Records. However, his determination persisted, and in 2002, he released the influential mixtape "Guess Who's Back?," catching the attention of Eminem and ultimately securing a contract with Shady Records, Aftermath Entertainment, and Interscope Records.

The turning point arrived with his first major-label album, "Get Rich or Die Tryin'," in 2003, a critical and commercial triumph that produced top hits like "In da Club" and "21 Questions." This marked the inception of G-Unit Records, where 50 Cent mentored emerging talents. His career traversed various phases, from the success of "The Massacre" in 2005 to explorations in pop-rap in subsequent albums and a return to his roots with "Animal Ambition" in 2014. Beyond music, 50 Cent ventured into acting and television production, starring in "Power" and spearheading spin-offs. His remarkable achievements include Grammy and Emmy Awards, numerous Billboard Music Awards, and a prominent spot on the list of the greatest rappers of all time. His influence extends beyond music, as exemplified by Rolling Stone's recognition of his albums and Billboard's ranking among the best rappers.
