Filipino-Canadian singer and comedian Mikey Bustos is a true success story and an inspiration for many of his fans. In 2003 Bustos entered the first season of Canadian Idol and finished in 8th place. His initial audition gained him support and headlines across the country and following the end of the competition he recorded with BMG Music Canada in contribution to the Canadian Idol compilation album, which sold over 60,000 copies nationwide and became certified gold.
Since then, Bustos has performed throughout Canada and the US, with numerous appearances on radio. In 2005 he released his EP Love Me Again, which was produced by Brent Bodrug. He continued to perform in many of North America’s largest cities and eventually traveled to the Philippines as the opening act for the Pussycat Dolls.
Whilst in the Philippines he had a series of interviews and performances on many of the country’s top networks and TV shows including ASAP ’06, Eat Bulaga, MTC Philippines and Philippine Idol.
Bustos continued to open for major superstars when they came to the Philippines and produced new music, including ‘If It Feels Good Then We Should’ and ‘Memoirs of a Superhero’.
As a comedian, since 2014 he has become famous for his YouTube videos where he performs covers and parodies of well-known songs and talks about Filipino culture and dining.
