Abu Dhabi is making public transport greener with the launch of electric and hydrogen-powered buses on Bus Route 65. This marks another step toward reducing emissions and creating a more sustainable city.
Bus Service No. 65 now runs entirely on zero-emission buses. It connects Marina Mall to Al Reem Island, covering about 2,000 km daily and serving 6,000 passengers. This switch to electric and hydrogen-powered buses means 200 fewer tonnes of CO₂ emissions per day, which is like taking 14,700 cars off Abu Dhabi’s roads.
The electric bus rollout won’t stop at Route 65. Soon, you’ll also see these eco-friendly buses on:
- Route 160 (Khalifa City to Capital Park, Al Danah)
- Route A2 (Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Street to Zayed International Airport’s Employee Centre)
Abu Dhabi aims to power half of its public transport with green energy in the near future. This move supports the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 Strategy, making the city’s transport cleaner without compromising passenger comfort.
