Waiting days for your salary could soon become much less common in the UAE private sector. Starting June 1, 2026, companies will be required to pay salaries on the first day of every month under a new MoHRE rule.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) announced the update under Ministerial Resolution No. 340 of 2026.

  • Any salary paid after the first day of the month will officially count as delayed
  • Companies must transfer at least 85% of total wages
  • If the transferred amount falls below 85%, the employee will still be considered unpaid under the system
  • Companies must also submit documents and payment data confirming salaries have been transferred

If a private company fails to fulfil its duties on time, MoHRE can take action until workers receive their wages. Measures mentioned in the resolution include suspending new work permits for the company, imposing financial fines, and placing travel bans on the person responsible for the business.

The salary payment rule will apply across the UAE private sector starting June 1, 2026.

Several other new rules and laws have also recently been announced in the UAE, including the new Arabic Language Law, Child Digital Safety Law focused on protecting children online, a ban on sugary drinks and snacks in schools, and a nationwide ban on artificial trans fats in food products.
