Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced a new name for Al Khail Metro Station. From now on, it will be called Al Fardan Exchange Metro Station. This station is part of the Red Line, located between interchanges 4 and 5 on Sheikh Zayed Road.
The renaming follows an agreement between RTA and Al Fardan Exchange, which has acquired the naming rights. As part of the deal, the company will gain exclusive branding opportunities within the station, using smart technologies to enhance its presence.
Dubai Metro has a long-standing practice of offering station naming rights to private companies. This creates business partnerships while generating revenue to support the city’s transport system. The agreement with Al Fardan Exchange aligns with this strategy, allowing the company to strengthen its brand while supporting public infrastructure.
According to Abdul Muhsen Kalbat, CEO of RTA’s Rail Agency, these partnerships help drive economic growth and encourage collaboration between the government and private businesses. He emphasized that such agreements contribute to Dubai’s vision of innovation and sustainability in public transport.
For metro users, the change is mostly about the name – the station’s location and services remain the same. However, commuters can expect to see new signage, digital updates, and branding elements reflecting the Al Fardan Exchange name.
Dubai’s metro stations have been renamed before under similar agreements, and this latest change is part of a broader effort to connect businesses with public services. Whether you call it Al Khail or Al Fardan Exchange Metro Station, it remains a key stop on the Red Line, serving thousands of daily commuters.
