There’s been talk of air taxis filling Dubai’s skies for a while, and now you’re closer than ever to your first ride. The first flying taxi station is now ready, and it’s located right next to Dubai International Airport.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum confirmed that Dubai International Vertiport (DXV) station is fully complete. It includes four floors with passenger areas, climate-controlled waiting spaces, a two-level car park, two take-off and landing pads, and charging points for electric flying taxis.

Flights are expected to begin later this year once the rest of the network is in place.

The initial route will connect DXV to Downtown Dubai, Palm Jumeirah, and Dubai Marina. With the first station now ready, the remaining vertiport locations are what’s left before flights begin.

Travel time between these locations will take about 10-12 minutes. The price is expected to stay close to an Uber Black ride, so it’s not something you save only for special occasions. You can read more about booking an air taxi via Uber here.

With work continuing on the remaining vertiports, we’re only a few months away from booking the first flying taxi ride and soaring across Dubai’s skies.
