If you’ve ever gone to one supermarket and wondered if the same items cost less somewhere else, you can now check in advance. A new website lets you compare prices on everyday items at different UAE retailers before shopping: Essential Goods Prices Platform, introduced by the UAE Ministry of Economy and Tourism.
You can already find more than 30 essential items, including the basics most people buy every week:
- Cooking oils
- Eggs
- Dairy products
- Rice and sugar
- Bread
- Meat, poultry, and fish
- Fruits and vegetables

Prices are updated daily using data from participating supermarkets. You can check the same items at different places, including Union Coop, Carrefour, Spinneys, LuLu Hypermarket, Al Maya, and Umm Al Quwain Coop, and decide where to shop before heading out.
If you’re trying to spend less on groceries, saving a few dirhams here and there can make a real difference. With the Essential Goods Prices Platform, you can now check how prices change on everyday items before you shop.
What you see on supermarket shelves will also start to change. In March 2026, the Cabinet approved the National Healthy Nutrition Strategy 2031, including a ban on industrial fat often found in processed foods.
