Security cameras are now mandatory at many public and commercial facilities in Kuwait. According to the Ministry of Interior, the requirement applies to 16 categories of locations under Law No. 61 of 2015.
Public and commercial places:
- Hotels and hotel apartments
- Shopping malls and entertainment centres
- Cooperative societies
- Banks
- Gold and jewellery shops
- Fuel stations
- Residential complexes

Community facilities:
- Hospitals and clinics
- Mosques and places of worship
- Youth centres
- Sports and cultural clubs
Industrial and special sites:
- Industrial areas
- Marinas
- Shooting ranges
- Warehouses storing valuable or hazardous materials

Recordings must be stored for 120 days, and altering or tampering with the footage is prohibited. The law also requires surveillance systems to receive regular maintenance and updates.
