Following the social media ban for children under 15, another change for families is coming in the UAE.
The country is introducing national standards for children’s media content. They will cover social media, digital platforms, books, films, music, and other artistic and media content.
The National Media Authority will introduce two new measures:
- National media content standards guide for children that will explain what content is considered suitable for different age groups and will apply to media organisations, digital platforms, and content creators.
- Age classification policy. Similar to film age ratings, but covering social media, digital platforms, books, music, and other media as well.

Officials said children’s views will be considered when deciding what content is appropriate for different age groups.
