Hatta’s mountain trails just got a striking new addition. A new public art installation titled ‘Deliberate Pauses’ has been unveiled in the Hajar Mountains, now recognised as Dubai’s largest site-specific art installation. The work is by Emirati artist Shaikha Al Mazrou and was commissioned by the Alserkal Arts Foundation, in collaboration with Dubai Culture and the Supreme Committee to Oversee the Development of Hatta. Set along the scenic hiking routes near Leem Lake, the installation brings a contemporary visual layer to Hatta’s already rich natural landscape. It reflects not only the rugged terrain of the area but also its cultural...
A new art show is opening next week in Riyadh’s historic Diriyah district — and it’s not your usual gallery experience. From April 21 to July 19, Diriyah Art Futures (DAF) is back with its second edition, putting the spotlight on the growing connection between technology and creativity in the Arab world. This year’s exhibition is called "Maknana: An Archaeology of New Media Art in the Arab World." The word "Maknana" comes from Arabic and means “automation,” and the show dives into how artists from the region have worked with technology over time — not just using digital tools, but...
A futuristic transport system could soon make trips between Abu Dhabi and Dubai faster and more affordable. The Seaglider, an innovative electric vehicle, promises to cut travel time between the two cities to just 30 minutes — at a cost of around AED 165. That’s quicker than a helicopter and cheaper than a taxi. The Seaglider is an all-electric vehicle designed for coastal travel. It moves like a boat at low speeds but takes off above the water once it gains momentum. It can reach speeds of up to 290 km/h while flying just above the water’s surface, reducing drag...
