You’ll want to keep an eye on the capital this June. More than 1,000 athletes are heading to Abu Dhabi for the second edition of the UAE Games for People of Determination, and the schedule already looks packed.

The program of Special Olympics UAE Games 2026 covers both team and individual sports:

  • Men’s basketball
  • 3×3 women’s basketball
  • Football
  • Badminton
  • Powerlifting
  • Bocce
  • Bowling

The opening happens in Dubai with artistic and rhythmic gymnastics at Wellfit Gymnastics Academy in Circle Mall. After that, the competition moves to Abu Dhabi.

The first Special Olympics UAE Games took place in Abu Dhabi in 2024. This edition will feature more athletes, more teams, and international participation. If you’re planning to be in Abu Dhabi in June, expect full venues, a busy schedule, and tough competitions.

More Big Events Coming to UAE

The calendar doesn’t slow down after June. Abu Dhabi also has another date locked in. December 2026 will see the first ever live entertainment summit, with professionals from the events and entertainment industry expected to take part.

Looking ahead, Sharjah will host the Global Children’s Books Congress in 2030, with publishers, authors, and industry professionals.
