Ever wished a bus could come closer to you instead of the other way around? In Dubai, that is exactly how Bus On Demand works. The popular service has expanded to Al Qusais and JVC to meet growing demand. And you can use it for free in these two neighborhoods until Sunday, April 12.
Instead of waiting at a fixed bus stop, you book a small vehicle through the app by entering your location and destination. The service works in a similar way to a taxi, but it is shared public transport and, like a regular bus, has a schedule:
- Monday to Thursday: 5 AM to 12 AM
- Friday: 5 AM to 1 AM
- Saturday: 5 AM to 12 AM
- Sunday: 8 AM to 12 AM

Bus On Demand currently operates in 15 neighbourhoods in Dubai. Each vehicle can carry up to 13 passengers. The standard fare is AED 5. Extra passengers added to the same booking cost AED 4 each.
Travel between zones costs AED 7. Dubai also six interzone routes:
- Al Barsha to Barsha Heights
- Al Rigga to Port Saeed
- Al Karama to Oud Metha
- Al Karama to Al Mankhool
- Business Bay to Downtown Dubai
- Dubai Silicon Oasis to Dubai Academic City
If you live in Al Qusais or JVC, or you are heading there before April 12, Bus On Demand is an easy way to get around without paying for each trip. Open the app, enter your pickup point and destination, and book your ride.
Dubai has no shortage of transport options. If you want to try something futuristic, you can now book self-driving taxis in Umm Suqeim and Jumeirah.
