Dubai has officially been crowned the number one city in the world for female solo travellers in 2025, according to a new study by travel insurance company InsureMyTrip. The recognition comes in the same year the city was also ranked the second safest (after the UAE capital) and cleanest city globally, solidifying its reputation as a top destination for safety, quality of life, and traveller experience.
The study looked at 62 cities worldwide, evaluating factors like personal safety, freedom of movement, and range of things to do.
The city’s low crime rate, women-only areas on public transport, and well-lit, walkable neighbourhoods helped push it to the top.
Dubai scored especially high for:
- Feeling safe walking alone at night: 83.11/100
- Feeling safe regardless of gender: 86.23/100
- Quality of activities and experiences: 4.58/5
Dubai moved up four places from its 2024 position to take the lead this year, earning a combined score of 7.71 out of 10. It beat out Krakow, Poland (2nd) and Madrid, Spain (3rd), both of which also received high marks for solo travel appeal. You can find the full of the safest cities for female travelers list here.
Whether you’re walking around Dubai Marina, exploring souks, or enjoying sunset views by the Burj Khalifa, the city’s commitment to safety ensures that solo visitors can explore with confidence.
While solo travel isn’t for everyone, it’s increasingly popular — especially among women looking to explore independently. Dubai’s top score reflects not only infrastructure and safety but also the freedom to create your own pace, meet fellow travellers, and enjoy everything the city has to offer without compromise.
