Dubai never stops surprising the world with its bold ideas, and here’s another impressive project coming to the city. Floating Dubai Museum of Art (DUMA) will soon appear on Dubai Creek. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum shared the first details of what’s set to become one of Dubai’s most distinctive art spaces.

The museum is designed by Japanese architect Tadao Ando, a Pritzker Prize winner whose architectural style is admired for its simplicity, balance, and use of light. The structure takes inspiration from the sea and pearls.

DUMA will have 5 floors, with galleries on the first and second floors, a restaurant and VIP lounge on the third, and cultural spaces below. The museum will host exhibitions, talks, and workshops, alongside a library and study rooms for students and artists.

The opening date of Dubai Museum of Art hasn’t been announced yet, so stay tuned for more updates on this floating marvel!

And if you’re following the UAE’s cultural calendar, you’ll want to keep an eye on two other major openings: Natural History Museum opens in Abu Dhabi on November 22, and Zayed National Museum will welcome first visitors on December 3, just in time for Eid Al Etihad 2025.
