The 4th Edition of Dubai World Congress for Self-Driving Transport has unveiled a vision of the future where we might no longer need to drive. One of the most impressive highlights of the Congress is the announcement of Self-Driving Transport Zone in Dubai. This futuristic vision is becoming a reality and is bringing cutting-edge autonomous transport services sooner than we thought.
This zone will cover Dubai Festival City, Dubai Creek, and Al Jaddaf and change how residents and visitors travel around the city.
Here’s what the Self-Driving Transport Zone will feature:
- 20 km of roads serviced by Robobuses and Roboshuttles
- 10 km of waterways operated by autonomous Roboboats
- 3.8 km covered by delivery robots handling your orders
In addition to these, you’ll also see Robotaxis, Robovans, and Robosweepers in operation.
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has partnered with Pony.ai, WeRide, and Baidu (Apollo Go) to bring these services to Dubai.

Currently, autonomous taxis are running pilot tests across the city, with full Robotaxi operations expected to begin by 2026. Early tests have shown positive results, paving the way for a future where autonomous transport is part of everyday life in Dubai.
Dubai continues to embrace the latest technology and bring innovations into our habitual life. After innovative transport solutions, we can expect to dine at world’s first restaurant with an AI chef. As the city leads the way in tech-driven solutions, more groundbreaking developments are on the horizon.
