Get ready to dive into Dubai’s latest seaside marvel, Jebel Ali Beach, which promises to be the city’s longest beach. Unveiled by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, this exciting development is designed to blend entertainment with environmental preservation.
Jebel Ali Beach spans an impressive 6.6 kilometers and covers 330 hectares, offering a recreational experience that’s set to be unmatched in the UAE. The beach will be divided into two main areas: a five-kilometer sandy stretch and a 1.6-kilometer mangrove beach.
Sandy Shores and More
The sandy part of Jebel Ali Beach is a haven for fun and relaxation. It will feature walking tracks, viewing platforms, a children’s play area, sports zones, a cycling track, and even a barbecue area. Beachgoers can swim and dive in designated areas, making it perfect for families and adventure seekers alike.
Mangrove Magic
The mangrove section of the beach is a nod to nature lovers, emphasizing environmental conservation. This area will be a hub for various living organisms and offer visitors a chance to see turtles in their natural habitat. The initiative aims to rescue, rehabilitate, and return these turtles to the sea, enhancing the beach’s ecological richness.
The design of Jebel Ali Beach draws inspiration from marine life, incorporating elements like coral shapes and turtle shells. This thoughtful blend of aesthetics and functionality ensures a unique and enjoyable experience for all visitors.
Facilities and Infrastructure
The beach will feature integrated infrastructure, including a two-lane road in each direction, parking for 1,000 vehicles, 80 bicycle racks, and a five-kilometer running track. These facilities aim to make access and enjoyment seamless for everyone.
Three Locations
Jebel Ali Beach will be divided into three distinct areas:
- The Pearl: Located near the entrance of Palm Jebel Ali, this area will be the hub of beach and recreational activities. It will feature a lively family beach, sports activities, a swimming pool, kids’ play areas, and a beach club with a pool and private beach. Several restaurants, cafes, shops, and a floating restaurant will add to the charm.
- The Sanctuary: This section prioritizes environmental conservation and houses recreational and sports activities. It’s a haven for turtles and other marine life, providing a serene escape from the city buzz.
- The Nest: Situated within the mangrove area, The Nest will offer a mix of recreational and educational initiatives focused on biodiversity and turtle rehabilitation. It will serve as an environmental center for studies and awareness, making it a perfect spot for nature enthusiasts.
Vision for the Future
This project is part of a larger master plan to develop public beaches in Dubai, aiming to increase the total length of beaches by 400%. This ambitious plan includes adding new public beaches, enhancing existing ones, and equipping them with recreational, sports, aesthetic, and investment facilities as envisioned in the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan.
