If you missed the giant glowing moon when it last appeared in Dubai, you’ll soon get another chance to see it. Museum of the Moon returns to the city this May, and the installation will stay on display for more than two weeks. So, if you’re in Dubai during this Eid Al Adha break, there’s plenty of time to stop by.
Museum of the Moon is an art object created by UK artist Luke Jerram (on the image below) using detailed NASA imagery of the lunar surface. The glowing installation is an exact replica of the moon with all the craters and textures, where every 1 cm represents roughly 5 km of the real surface.

Luke’s art objects have already travelled through more than 30 countries, with stops in England, Latvia, India, Belgium, and Australia.
Dubai has welcomed Museum of the Moon several times before, and this May, there will be special activity for kids. They can play with illuminated sand light boxes placed beneath, draw shapes, create patterns, and experiment with movement and light under the lunar glow.
The installation opens at OliOli on May 15, and visitors will be able to see it until May 31.
