The next long weekend in the UAE is almost here! The holiday for Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday (PBUH) will be observed on September 5, 2025 (12th of Rabi Al Awwal), giving both government and private sector employees an extended three-day break. With the holiday falling on a Friday, it aligns perfectly with the regular weekend.

Free Parking & Metro Hours in Dubai on September 5

For those using public transport or heading out around Dubai, Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced that parking will be free of charge on September 5, except for multi-level parking facilities and Al Khail Gate Parking (N.365). However, be aware that paid parking will resume on Saturday, September 6.

If you’re planning to use RTA services during the long weekend, here’s what you need to know:

  • RTA Customer Happiness Centres will be closed on September 5, but smart centres at Umm Ramool, Deira, Al Barsha, Al Tawar, and RTA’s Head Office will stay open 24/7
  • Dubai Metro will operate with extended hours on Friday, 5 September, from 5 AM to 1 AM the next day
  • Public buses, Dubai Tram, marine transport, and vehicle technical testing services will also be available, but with adjusted timings for the holiday

Free Public Parking and Darb Toll Gate in Abu Dhabi on September 5

Good news for everyone in the UAE capital too! On Friday, September 5, you’ll get a little extra break from parking fees and toll charges as the city celebrates the Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) birthday.

The Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) has announced that all Mawaqif surface parking will be completely free on this public holiday. Along with parking, the Darb toll gates will also be free for the day. But don’t forget, fees for both will resume on Saturday, September 6.

The next public holiday on the calendar will be Eid Al Etihad (UAE National Day), falling on Tuesday, December 2 and Wednesday, December 3, 2025. Preparations for this major celebration are already in motion across the country — with events, shows, and festivities expected to return even bigger this year.
