Dubai is taking significant steps to improve access to Dubai International Airport (DXB). Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced plans to build a new bridge and increase the road capacity toward the airport. The initiative aims to improve traffic flow in the area surrounding Terminal 1 at DXB.

The new bridge will be constructed using an innovative system of steel box girders and a composite concrete slab, which will help expedite the construction process. Notably, no traffic diversions will be required on Airport Street during the construction phase, minimizing disruption to daily traffic.

Here’s what the new bridge to DXB airport will bring:

  • Widening of the existing bridge from three to four lanes
  • The bridge will extend by 70 metres, bringing its total length to 171 metres
  • Increased capacity, allowing the bridge to handle 5,600 vehicles per hour

The expansion will significantly improve access to DXB, making it easier for travelers and vehicles to reach the airport.

In addition to this project, the city is working on other initiatives on the road, including the introduction of an AI-driven traffic signal system. If you drive frequently in Dubai, you may want to know how to make the green light appear faster at traffic signals.
