A new kind of fitness challenge is coming to Dubai, and it’s not your typical run in the sun. The event is a collaboration between Dubai Fitness Council and CRANK fitness studio, bringing together two disciplines — stationary cycling and running — inside the chilled indoor slopes of Ski Dubai. Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has opened a major infrastructure addition: a new 800-metre-long tunnel at the intersection of Umm Suqeim Street and Al Barsha South Street, near Kings’ School. With 4 lanes in each direction, the tunnel is capable to accomodate 16,000 vehicles per hour. Ever wished a bus could come closer to you instead of the other way around? In Dubai, that is exactly how Bus On Demand works. The popular service has expanded to Al Qusais and JVC to meet growing demand. And you can use it for free in these two neighborhoods until Sunday, April 12. Instead of waiting at a fixed bus stop, you book a small vehicle through the app by entering your location and destination. The service works in a similar way to a taxi, but it is shared public transport and, like a regular bus, has a schedule:...
A new tower is planned for Downtown Dubai, and it’s one of those buildings people will definitely notice once it goes up. It’s called Inaura, and it already feels a little different from the usual projects. Developed by Arada and designed by MVRDV, the tower is expected to reach around 200 metres. Even with its location in the middle of the city, the building will keep clear views of Burj Khalifa rather than disappearing behind nearby constructions. Inaura will have 42 floors and feature a large orb built into the upper part. While it’s certainly designed to impress, the orb...

The sail-shaped silhouette on Jumeirah Beach has been part of Dubai’s skyline for more than two decades. But now, iconic Burj Al Arab is closing for a full refresh. After years of constant use, the building is heading into an 18-month renovation and should reopen around 2027. Since opening in December 1999, the hotel has built a reputation that goes beyond a typical stay. The private island location, the dhow sail design, and the “seven-star” label made it one of the most recognised hotels in the world. After years of hosting guests, the hotel is pausing to rework its interiors....
If you’re the kind of person who picks a restaurant as much for the mood as for the food, Yesterday might be just what you need. It’s a step up from your usual grab-and-go pizza spot in Dubai: a place to sit down, enjoy your time and company, and proper wood-fired Neapolitan pizza. Yesterday is all about letting the music complement the experience. There’s a vinyl record player, proper speakers, and a steady flow of classic tracks. That’s really the idea behind this listening pizzeria. Already want to check it out? You’ll find this new restaurant in Dubai inside Avenue...
