Travelling to the United States from the UAE is about to get more expensive. A new piece of legislation, part of the H.R. 1 – One Big Beautiful Bill Act, has introduced an additional Visa Integrity Fee for all nonimmigrant visa applicants.
The fee will come into effect starting in fiscal year 2026, and will be a minimum of USD 250, added on top of the regular visa application charges. The standard fee for most nonimmigrant visas, including B1/B2 visitor visas, currently stands at USD 185, meaning most applicants will now pay at least USD 435 in total.

This Visa Integrity Fee is non-refundable and will be required at the time of visa issuance. It applies to various visa categories, including travel for tourism, business, education, and employment. Beginning in fiscal year 2027, the fee is expected to be adjusted annually based on inflation, as stated in the law.
There is a provision for reimbursement in specific cases. Visa holders may qualify for a refund if they fully comply with visa conditions, avoid unauthorised employment, and either depart the US within five days of visa expiry or adjust their status to lawful permanent residency. Reimbursements will be at the discretion of the Secretary of Homeland Security.

This added fee will likely impact a large number of travellers from the UAE who frequently visit the US for different purposes. It’s a cost worth noting when making future travel plans.
