Manju Warrier

Indian actress Manju Warrier is one of the most successful actresses in the Malayalam film industry. Having made her debut at age 16 in 1995, Warrier has gone on to star in numerous commercially and critically acclaimed films, winning several accolades along the way.

Shortly after her debut, Warrier starred in the 1996 film ‘Ee Puzhayum Kadannu’ and was widely praised for her acting, winning the Kerala State Film Award and Filmfare Awards South for Best Actress. She continued to showcase her acting talents, winning 3 more Filmfare Awards South in the 1990s, adding another one to her awards list in 2014. One film she was awarded for was the 1998 box-office hit ‘Kanmadam, for which she also became a recipient of the Asianet Film Award, the first of four.

A favourite amongst Malayalam film fans, Warrier also became known for her role in the Othello adaptation ‘Kaliyattam’, which went on to win four Kerala State Film Awards and two National Film Awards, as well as becoming the highest-grossing regional film of the year. She also received praise for ‘Kannezhuthi Pottum Thottu’, in which she was also awarded the Best Actress (Special Jury) at the National Film Awards.

Following a sabbatical, Warrier returned to the big screen in 2011’s ‘Gaddama’, to widespread praise. She has become one of the leading celebrities in the country, starring in commercials alongside Amitabh Bacchan and Aishwarya Rai.
