Biography & Career
Seventeen is an extremely popular South Korean boy band. The band involves 13 members. Seventeen members are S.Coups, Jeonghan, Mingyu, The8, Seungkwan, Vernon, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, DK, and Dino.
The story of the band started in 2013 in a reality show where the participants were introduced and shown practicing for performances and ended up having Seventeen concerts. So, the future members of Seventeen took part in the show Seventeen Project: Big Debut Plan on MBC.
Seventeen's debut date is considered to be on May 26, 2015 with a live showcase. Three days after their debut, the band released their first album 17 Carat. The album appeared on "10 Best K-Pop Albums of 2015" list according to Billboard magazine.
At that time an average Seventeen member's age was 19 years old. Young but ambitious, in half a year the group released their second album Boys Be, which became the best selling rookie album of 2015 year.
In 2016, Seventeen's first studio album Love & Letter was introduced. The album got immediate success in domestic and Japanese charts.
A year later there was a world tour which included concerts in thirteen cities across Asia and North America. The same year the band introduced their second studio album, Teen, Age after which The Time magazine placed the group on the list of the six best K-pop groups.
In 2019, fans of Seventeen were presented with their sixth EP You Made My Dawn. The "Home" , the most successful single out of the album, won ten awards on weekly music shows. That exact year the singers set off for their second world tour.
2021 was tremendously lucky for Seventeen: they had their US television debut on CBS' The Late Late Show, performing their single "Home;Run." The band also introduced to the public their third Japanese single, "Not Alone" which was ranked high on the Billboard Japan charts and first on the Oricon Daily.
Today Seventeen ages to the highest levels in terms of their professionalism and popularity. Furthermore, they are still evolving. In 2022, they launched their "Team SVT" project for their fans, released their fourth studio album, Face the Sun, and had their third world tour 'Be the Sun'. And lastly, Seventeen released their third Japanese EP Dream which has got millions of views on YouTube.
