2 Chainz is an American rapper from College Park, Georgia. He gained fame as one half of Playaz Circle, a Southern hip hop duo, with his friend Earl "Dolla Boy" Conyers. The duo was signed to Ludacris' label, Disturbing tha Peace, and is best known for their hit single "Duffle Bag Boy" featuring Lil Wayne, released in 2007.
In 2012, Epps signed a solo contract with Def Jam Recordings, which is part of Universal Music Group. His debut studio album, Based on a T.R.U. Story, was released in August 2012, and it received mixed reviews, but it was commercially successful.
The album produced three hit singles, "No Lie" featuring Drake, "Birthday Song" featuring Kanye West, and "I'm Different", all of which charted in the top 50 of the Billboard Hot 100 and were certified Gold or higher by the RIAA. 2 Chainz's second studio album, B.O.A.T.S. II: Me Time, was released in September 2013, and it was supported by the lead single "Feds Watching" featuring Pharrell Williams.
He went on to release several more albums, including ColleGrove (2016), Pretty Girls Like Trap Music (2017), Rap or Go to the League (2019), So Help Me God! (2020), and Dope Don't Sell Itself (2022), before parting ways with Def Jam in 2022.
In addition to his music career, 2 Chainz worked with the TV network Viceland on a show called Most Expensivest, which premiered on November 15, 2017, and ran for three seasons.
