Ranked by clubbing industry giants Resident Advisor as the world’s second best DJ in their annual reader-voted poll in 2016, we’d be hard pushed to disagree.
American DJ and producer Maceo Plex, AKA Eric Estornel first broke onto the dance music scene in 2010 with releases for Cocoon and Crosstown Rebels under his Maceo Plex and Maetrik monikers, before launching his Ellum label in 2011 with early signings including Seth Troxler and Art Department. Playing a melodic, dark but uplifting mix of house and techno, he then released 2011’s club smash ‘Falling,’ which cemented his place on club bills across the world.
A big part of Ibiza’s recent success, he’s sold out clubs including Space and Amnesia on the island, including his own recent party Mosaic at Pacha. Further success came in the form of his remix of Gus Gus’ ‘Crossfade’ which became a dance music anthem in 2014, while in 2016 he set his very own world record as he played 10 sets in a day across Ibiza, DJing everywhere from yacht parties, restaurants and hidden venues across the party island.
A firm favourite in the region thanks to several high profile gigs in Dubai, Maceo Plex remains one of the most important players in the dance music scene.
