Dennis Ferrer

Dennis Ferrer

It’s amazing how one hit can have such a big impact on your career. Already a well-established DJ with countless gigs across the world and a sprawling list of productions longer than your arm, he hit the big time with his track ‘Hey Hey’ in 2009. But that does the rest of his career an injustice.

A noted afro and deep house producer since the mid-90s, his first break onto the scene came in 2003 thanks to his collaboration ‘Sandcastles’ with Jerome Sydenham which picked up plaudits from DJs and clubbers alike. Slathered in soul but with a strong techno backbeat, it gained traction from all corners of the house community, leading to remix work for Defected and Barbara Tucker.

Oh, and there’s also the small matter of his Grammy nomination for his Objektivity remix of Dido’s ‘Don’t Believe In Love’ in 2009 – not something many DJs can lay claim to! A versatile DJ who’s happy playing gospel, Brazilian, jazz or soulful house, he’s been booked for gigs in Dubai for over a decade thanks to his trademark deep and groovy sound – so much so that Beatport named Dennis Ferrer the Deep house artist of 2009 in their annual round up.
