Krishnakumar Kunnath, better known as KK, is one of India’s most popular singers having lent his voice to around 500 Bollywood films as well as more South Indian movies.
KK’s beginnings was quite busy too having sung over 3500 jingles before landing his first Bollywood gig in 1996. A few years later, he released his first album, “Pal”, an Indi-pop collaboration with renown producer Leslie Lewis. KK only returned to the studios much later and only cut his second album after 9 years. Having kept his fans hungry for that long, the rock-flavoured “Humsafar” was very well received. Needless to say, KK had his hands full with soundtracks and playback troupe concerts around the world.
KK was another one of the handful of ‘fresh’ sounding playback singers in Bollywood and as the Indian music scene adapted to the demands of the youth in the late 90s and early 2000’s, KK’s vocals expectedly became part of it and even to this day has barely reduced in track-listings.
