Biography & Career:
Louie Vega is an American DJ, producer, remixer, and label owner from the Bronx, New York. Growing up in a Puerto Rican musical family helped shape an early interest in rhythm and club culture, and he began DJing as a teenager. DJ Louie Vega later became a major name in New York nightlife and formed Masters at Work with Kenny Dope in 1990.

The artist has Puerto Rican ethnicity and American nationality. Music runs through the family: his father, Luis F. Vega Sr., was a jazz saxophonist, while salsa singer Héctor Lavoe was an uncle. These influences became part of the distinctive Louie Vega house music sound, where house meets Latin rhythms, jazz, soul, gospel, disco, and Afrobeat. The main genre is house, although the producer has explored a wide range of styles throughout the career.

Alongside Masters at Work, Louie Vega has developed an extensive solo catalogue. The albums include Elements of Life, Louie Vega Starring...XXVIII, NYC Disco, and Expansions In The NYC. His catalogue of songs spans solo releases, collaborations, remixes, and work under different projects. Among the best songs associated with Vega are Elements of Life, Diamond Life, Ride on the Rhythm, and Another Day in My Life.

A major career milestone came at the Grammy Awards when Vega won Best Remixed Recording for the remix of Superfly. The producer has also received multiple Grammy nominations across the career. A concert or DJ set can move between house, disco, Latin music, soul, and other club sounds, while upcoming events continue to bring Vega to clubs and festivals internationally.

Away from the decks and studio, Vega is married to Cape Verdean DJ and singer Anané Vega. His wife is also a creative partner, and the two have performed together through projects including The Ritual.
