Kuwait is preparing for a one-day public sector holiday to observe the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) on Thursday, September 4, 2025. This special holiday, announced by the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), will give government employees a well-deserved extended break, as it falls right before the regular weekend.
The holiday will see the closure of all ministries, government agencies, and public institutions across the country. This means that government services will be unavailable for the day, giving workers a long, three-day weekend. However, normal working hours will resume on Sunday, September 7.

So if you’re planning to do business with any public sector services, make sure to plan ahead as the offices will be closed for the day.
In recent related news, Kuwait has launched an e-visa platform in July, making it easier for travelers to plan their trips.
Additionally, last week, visa-on-arrival for GCC residents was introduced, making it even easier for those living in the region to visit Kuwait.
