Dubai is relaunching its Flexible Summer initiative for 2026. From June 29 to September 10, government employees will follow summer working hours.

Employees will be divided into two groups:

  • Group 1: Seven-hour workdays from Monday to Thursday, plus a four-and-a-half-hour workday on Friday
  • Group 2: Eight-hour workdays from Monday to Thursday, with Fridays off

Government entities can also introduce approved flexible working hours or allow employees to work remotely, depending on the nature of their work.

Another seasonal change is already in effect: the UAE has introduced its annual midday work ban during the hottest hours of summer.
