If you’ve ever used Dubai Metro at Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall station during peak hours, you still remember those slow-moving crowds and packed platforms. It’s that one experience we don’t really need in our lives, and thankfully, it’s about to get better. Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has partnered with Emaar Properties to expand the city’s busiest station.
Passenger numbers at this stop have grown by 7.5% over the past five years, and it shows during those moments when everyone seems to be leaving at the same time. If you were in Downtown on New Year’s Eve, or tried to get on the metro after fireworks, concerts, or a holiday weekend, you already know how intense this station can get.

If you love numbers, here’s what the Dubai Metro expansion at Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall station will bring:
- the station will get bigger by 65%
- capacity will increase by 30% (from 7,250 to 12,320 passengers per hour)
- the station will be able to serve up to 220,000 passengers per day
- total area will grow by 26% from (6,700 to 8,500 sqm)
The upgrades will also bring better entrances and pedestrian bridges, way more room to move around, and extra escalators and lifts.
