Keeping public spaces spotless is something Dubai is well known for, and the city has once again received global recognition for it. In 2026, Dubai ranks first as the world’s cleanest city, marking the sixth year in a row it has held the top position.

The result comes from the Global Power City Index (GPCI). It compares major cities around the world and looks at how they perform across different aspects of urban life. In this year’s report, Dubai achieved a perfect satisfaction score of 100% for cleanliness under the Environment category.

The Global Power City Index evaluates cities using more than 70 indicators in six areas:

  • quality of life
  • environment
  • economy
  • research and development
  • cultural interaction
  • accessibility

Together, they help measure how attractive and competitive cities are for residents, visitors, and businesses.

For many residents in Dubai, the result simply confirms what they see every day: a city where public spaces are carefully maintained and cleanliness is taken seriously.

Curious how Dubai is doing in other rankings? Just this year, it ranked second as a top global dining destination in 2026 and 6th in the Global Safety Index 2026. It’s another reminder why the city continues to stand out as a great place to live, work, and visit.
