Dubai isn’t slowing down on infrastructure. With so many projects already in the works, another one is now being planned, and it sounds impressive. A 55-kilometre metro line may soon connect Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC). The proposed Airport Express Line would create a direct link between the two hub, with a few stops along the way.

Here are the first details.

The route would start from the existing Red Line at DXB and pass through:

  • Al Jaddaf
  • Along Al Khail Road
  • A new station at Jumeirah Village Circle (JVC)
  • DWC

No construction timeline for Airport Express Line has been announced yet. Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has invited consultants to work on the study and design of the project. The experts have until June to submit proposals.

It’s expected that the Airport Express Line would include remote airline check-in, baggage drop-off, and security screening before reaching the airport, allowing passengers to complete key steps of their journey ahead of arrival.

More Transport Projects in Dubai

Another project many have been waiting for, Dubai Metro Blue Line, is expected to open on September 9, 2029.

At the same time, some projects are already closer to launch. The first flying taxi station near DXB is now in place ahead of the promised 2026 launch. Also, if you’ve been waiting for Elon Musk’s Dubai Loop, the first locations have now been confirmed.
