Dubai Fountain, one of the city’s most iconic attractions, is temporarily closed for major upgrades. Emaar, the developer behind the project, has confirmed that the fountain will reopen on Wednesday, October 1.
Located next to Dubai Mall and Burj Khalifa, the Dubai Fountain has long been a centrepiece of the Downtown experience. But since its closure on April 19, the surrounding area looks noticeably different. The artificial Burj Khalifa Lake — previously filled with water to power the show — has been drained to allow for renovation.

The drained fountain covers an area of approximately 121,000 square metres, or roughly the size of 18 football fields. The renovations include a full replacement of the old flooring. The original surface was prone to cracking, and the new concrete base will offer better insulation and long-term durability.
In addition to structural improvements, new digital screens have been added around the viewing area to enhance the overall visitor experience while the fountain is offline.
Progress is well underway, and the confirmed reopening on October 1 means both residents and tourists can look forward to upgraded shows and a refreshed look later this year.
