Aerican dance-rock band DNCE have taken the world by storm with their catchy hits and lively performances across the globe. The brainchild of Joe Jonas and Jack Lawless, the band, which also includes JinJoo Lee and Cole Whittle, made headlines with their debut single ‘Cake by the Ocean’ which came out in 2015.
Having begun writing their debut album and performing secret shows in New York, Jonas announced the band in September 2015, eight days before ‘Cake by the Ocean; was released on Republic Records.
The song climbed the international charts, reaching Number 7 in Canada and 9 in the US. The track also performed well overseas, topping the Japanese charts. It was certified multiple Platinum and shot the band to new-found fame. DNCE’s success continued with a sold-out fourteen date tour in November to coincide with the release of their debut album, ‘Swaay and DNCE’.
The band then went on to appear in ‘Grease: Live’ on Fox, performing numerous songs. DNCE’s performance was highly praised. A month later, they joined Selena Gomez on her revival tour as well as performances on BBC One’s ‘The Graham Norton Show’.
DNCE have also been recognized formally with nominations in the American Music Awards for New Artist of the Year and Favourite Group as well as a win in the MTV Video Music Awards for Best New Artist and for Choice Music: Party Song at the 2016 Teen Choice Awards.
