British indie-rock band The Charlatans are one of the top indie-rock bands in the UK. With twelve top-40 charting albums and four top 10 hits, they have sold millions of copies and have performed to thousands of people around the world throughout their career which has spanned over 4 decades.
Formed in the late 1980s, The Charlatans released their debut album, ‘Some Friendly’, in 1990 on Situation Two Records. The album was well received and topped the UK Album Chart, with the single ‘The Only One I Know’ becoming their first Top 10 hit, peaking at Number 9.
The Charlatans continued their chart success with the singles ‘Over Rising’ and ‘Weirdo’ before reaching the top spot again with their self-titled fourth album, which came out in 1995. They again topped the UK chart with ‘Tellin’ Stories’, which went Platinum in the process. The album also included the Number 3 single ‘One to Another’ and other Top 10 singles ‘North Country Boy’ and ‘How High’.
The band continued releasing music, with four subsequent Top 10 albums and a string of successful singles. The Charlatans also toured around the world, with performances including support for The Who and The Rolling Stones and shows at venues such as Wembley Stadium and the Hammersmith Apollo.
