Two UAE cities have earned impressive spots in Global Cities Resilience Index (GCRI). Dubai (#4) made it to the top 5, right after London, Amsterdam, and New York. Abu Dhabi (#13) made it into the top 15, ahead of major cities. This recognition highlights the UAE’s growing influence in sustainable development and its strong infrastructure.

The GCRI evaluates how cities are preparing to face environmental, economic, and social challenges, with a focus on their ability to recover and thrive. It assesses cities in 5 categories:

  • governance
  • sustainable finance
  • technology
  • social capital
  • global integration

Dubai’s ranking reflects its role as a global leader in innovation and adaptability. The city’s advanced infrastructure, effective governance, and strong social and financial foundations were key to its top-five position.

The city continues to shine in global rankings. Just this year, Dubai was named the 3rd most scenic city to explore at night in 2025 and 4th among the top global foodie destinations.

As for the UAE capital, Abu Dhabi’s 13th-place ranking demonstrates its commitment to long-term, sustainable growth. The city’s focus on sustainable finance, investment in human capital, and institutional strength have built a solid foundation for future resilience.

This year alone, Abu Dhabi ranked 9th in the world for green spaces and nature, and is also recognized as one of the top 20 cultural cities globally.
