Eid Al Adha is approaching, and astronomers in the UAE have revealed their predictions for its start date.

According to the Emirates Astronomy Society, this year’s Eid Al Adha is expected to commence on Monday, June 17, following the Day of Arafat on Sunday, June 16.

Ibrahim Al Jarwan, chairman of the Emirates Astronomy Society, has also noted that the Hajj season, which falls with Eid Al Adha, will likely end on Thursday, June 20. This day, known as the end of Tashriq, traditionally marks the conclusion of the pilgrimage.

Given these predictions, people in the UAE could enjoy a long weekend.

With the Eid Al Adha festivities extending for three days and considering the weekend before, UAE residents could get a total of five consecutive days off work.

Eid Al Adha is a time of prayer, charity, and community gatherings, often marked by large family feasts and the sharing of meat with the less fortunate.

The start of Eid Al Adha depends on the sighting of the Dhu al-Hijjah moon, which is predicted to begin on Saturday, June 8.
